About this session
What happens when the Bible is no longer regarded as God's Word? Can the Christian Church remain faithful to its mission if the authority of Scripture is set aside? In this session, Dr. Niilo Räsänen will reflect on why the authority of the Bible remains one of the defining questions facing the Christian Church today. Beginning with his own journey of faith, Niilo Räsänen will explore the role Scripture has played in his life. Drawing on developments within the Finnish church and society, Dr. Räsänen will examine the growing challenge to the idea of the Bible as God's revealed Word and consider the consequences for Christian faith and witness.
The session will emphasize the Bible's foundational role in proclaiming Christ and the forgiveness of sins. Combining personal testimony, theological reflection, and observations on contemporary culture, the presentation will offer a defense of the Christian conviction that God's Word remains the power of the Church and the source of saving faith.
