About this session
Sexual abuse by trusted adults, including family members, church leaders, and educators, is especially harmful and requires effective prevention. While safeguarding measures and prevention programs are essential, overly narrow approaches may unintentionally create fear, hinder healthy psychosexual development, and strain relationships between children and trusted adults. This presentation explores how abuse prevention can be implemented without fostering unnecessary anxiety or resistance from parents, teachers, and faith communities. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience from IPZIN and EIIP, Dr. Grzelak highlights the Integrated Prevention Model and lessons learned through collaboration with schools and the Catholic Church in Poland to promote balanced, effective safeguarding practices.
